When I started my entrepreneurial journey, I had just finished about 13 years of working in the corporate world. During that time it was fairly easy to keep somewhat of a work/life balance. The structure of the 8 hour day, 1 hour lunch and your 2 weeks a year of vacation, although it meant work usually out weighed your personal life, kept some sort of schedule that included balance.
These 3 tips help me keep that work/life balance as an entrepreneur.
1. Set boundaries ~ Make your schedule known to your clients. Personally, I am not a morning person, so I don’t schedule any meetings before 10am. If you don’t want to work on weekends, don’t respond to emails or take client calls.
2. Force yourself to take a break ~ As a business owner, I never really “shut off” the business mindset. My escape has been traveling. Whether its a long drive or a walk on the beach, make sure you reward all of your hard work with a break. YOU DESERVE IT!
3. Know your limits! ~ When you take on more than you can handle, just the stress from falling behind can be immensely debilitating. We started our businesses to grow, don’t be afraid to delegate and outsource!
